Samsung and factories in Apple's supply chain have been encouraged by the Vietnamese government to vaccinate workers at their factories for COVID-19.
Apple suppliers in Vietnam are dealing with an increase in COVID-19 infections in the country. To prevent this, the Government of our country not only provides vaccines but also encourages companies to ensure support to vaccinate workers if possible.
Specifically, the Government has requested Samsung and other foreign organizations to vaccinate employees at factories for COVID-19. Head of the management board of industrial parks in the North of Bac Ninh province, Mr Bui Hoang Mai, said, "The government is encouraging companies to vaccinate workers against COVID-19 at factories."
Along with that, the Government also made recommendations for factories to set up "sleep mode" and other procedures so that factories can continue to operate. On Friday, it was reported that an Apple-related factory had split into two shifts to keep the plant running.
Bac Giang province, home to several Apple and Samsung suppliers, is currently in the process of reopening closed factories in four industrial zones.
Bac Ninh and Bac Giang are the two provinces with the highest number of infections in the community from April 27 to May 30, of which Bac Giang has 2,118 cases and Bac Ninh has up to 804 cases positive for COVID-19. Bac Giang now accounts for more than half of the total 4,034 cases in 34 cities across the country during this time.
In addition to encouraging businesses to provide more vaccines, the Ministry of Health is providing 200,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces. The workers will be vaccinated within a week.
